Part Three of The Ground Is Uneven
For this issue my team and I put out a call for submissions and accepted five writers and a poet. I contributed a short story and worked with my designer on the illustrations and layout.
Adam Kaz founded The Ground Is Uneven in October 2019 with his art director and collaborator Justin Wilde. The literary magazine's goal is to provide creative, emotionally resonant SUPER SHORT stories and visual art pieces. Adam develops much of the content, manages the magazine's web presence, and edits all submissions.

In the WHY WE CHOSE TO PUBLISH section for "You Must Die" the editors of Fabula Argentea wrote, "We love every story we’ve published to date, but when unexpected stories like this one cross our desk, they validate everything we set out to do when we began publishing our magazine twelve years ago."
The the editorial staff of the online journal literally stories published this piece because they admired the clever dialogue and the ambiguous ending.
Volume Two of The Ground Is Uneven is comprised of two short stories, five flash fiction pieces, and a poem written by me. It grapples with themes like paranoia, detachment, and economic angst.
As the Editor of The Ground Is Uneven, I manage our website and social media presence. I used Squarespace to create this rugged design, matching its aesthetic to the magazine's darker themes and straight-forward brand.
The first issue is comprised of eleven literary fiction short pieces written by me. The stories grapple with topics like deception, emotional maturity, family, ambition, desire, aimlessness, and love.
This was one of the first pieces we released on our website. For this story I collaborated with the artist Elliana Miller to develop a voice that complemented their beautiful illustrations.
